This Thursday Oct.22 7:30 to 9:30pm we co-present the People’s Poetry Gathering : Masquerade Of Metaphors hosted by THE ILLUSTRIOUS PEARL. All are welcome, we encourage you to dress as your fave poet or poem and recite a couple lines from it. More details at citylore.org
Wednesday, October 28 at 6:30pm we bring you readings via Lithic Press featuring: UCHE NDUKA, BASIL KING, YUKO OTOMO & FRANK RUBINO, with PENNY ARCADE & DANNY ROSEN.
And Sunday, Nov.8, on the final evening of our Post More Bills exhibition we present 6 poets & performers selected by Ilka Scobie: UPTOWN G.I., EMILIO GARCIA, VALERY OISTEANU, MONIQUE ERICKSON, NATALIA DIAZ JACKSON and ILKA SCOBIE. 6:30 to 7:30pm, followed by our closing social! All are free.

We’ve invited Flyn Vibert of Leather Saints Archive (an excellent online resource on Patti Smith & Robert Mapplethorpe) to share historical insight into the posters on display from the 1976 Patti Smith Group European dates. That’s 50 years ago!

POST NO BILLS our rare posters exhibition curated from the Howl! Arts Jane Friedman collection is open Wednesday to Sunday, 12 to 6PM through November 8.

This Saturday October 17 at 6pm we host a talk on the Patti Smith Group 1976 performances in Europe by Flyn Vibert in tandem with our exhibition which features posters from the summer and fall dates.
Flyn is an artist and photographer, who created the Leather Saints Archive (an excellent online resource on Patti Smith and Robert Mapplethorpe) in 2020. Born in London, they currently live and work in Berlin, Germany. They have a Masters degree in Photography, and studied at the Cambridge School of Art, Central Saint Martins and the London College of Fashion. Flyn’s work has been published with Du Magazine, Hunger, and WeTransfer, among others, and their art has been exhibited in the UK, France, Germany, and the US.
Leather Saints is an online archive and research project which encompasses hundreds of photographs and stories. It explores Patti Smith’s journey through her autobiography Just Kids and the interconnected lives of the artists, poets, musicians, filmmakers, and performers who populated New York’s downtown scene in the 1960/70s.
The talk is free. Aldo Hernandez from Howl opens with a 15 minute summary of the graphic artists in the current rare poster exhibition, Post More Bills.
