Howl! Happening is very excited to present Secrets of the Heart Film Festival, THIS Saturday, March 19th. Doors are at 7pm, and the event is free to attend. Filmmakers from around the globe will be featured right here at 6 East 1st Street by Jeffrey Wengrofsky. Read about Jeffrey and the festival below- and join us on Saturday at Howl! Happening, An Arturo Vega Project.

Howl! Happening hosts the Secrets of the Heart Film Festival. Curated by fourth generation Lower East Sider Jeffrey Wengrofsky, the Festival will screen ten short films culled from 340 international submissions. The fourth festival in Wengrofsky’s Secrets series, Secrets of the Heart: Telling the Truth that Hurts, is dedicated to getting past the propaganda about that most sacred sentiment—love. Does love thrive amid illusions of truth and beauty? Is it natural or is it learned? Is love pure or merely a reflection of broader patterns of power and knowledge? What is the relationship between love and allegedly lesser impulses like lust and greed? How do the varieties of love—romantic, familial, comradely—get along with one other?

Included in the program is Jeffrey Wengrofsky’s “Getting Out of Bed with Richard Foreman,” a film about acclaimed absurdist, and MacArthur “Genius” Award-winning playwright Richard Foreman.

Ten directors will be featured: Jennifer Boles (Chicago), Marie Chauvin (France), Bradley Eros (NYC), Leslie Hodgkins (NYC), Lena Marquise (NYC), Robin Queree (Australia), Christoph Rainer (Austria), Isabelle Vossart (France), Jeffrey Wengrofsky (NYC) and Mike Wilson (NYC).
