SUMMARY:BOB KRASNER:The Shape of the City
DESCRIPTION:Photography Exhibition\nOpening Reception: Saturday\, September 17 / 3–7 PM / Free\nSpecial Performance by Female Genius on the terrace at 3:30 PM.  \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n ►\n Explore 3D Space \n \n \n \n Bob Krasner: The Shape of the City\n \n \n \n\nHowl! Arts/Howl! Archive is pleased to present photographer Bob Krasner’s abstract city views that explore the intersection of the architecture and atmosphere of New York City. Unlike his well-known pictures of cultural events\, which concentrate on the life and people of the downtown scene\, these photos represent the joyful moments of image-making that condense man’s creations and the sun into painterly and sublime abstraction. \nKrasner has been a photographer since high school. He’s photographed rock stars and presidents\, weddings and bar mitzvahs\, performance art and paintings\, shopping malls and private estates\, writers and publishers\, CEOs and sailors. His work has appeared in the New York Times\, Vanity Fair\, Rolling Stone\, and the Village Voice\, among other publications. He is currently a weekly contributor to the Villager and AM New York\, concentrating on events and people below 14th Street\, which brings him in touch with some of the most important artists and creators working in the city today.  \n“When I’m not shooting portraits or concerts or parades\, I relax by taking more pictures\,” he says. Posted daily on his Instagram page (@bobkrasner) for more than six years\, his unpopulated abstracts are inspired by his jaunts around the five boroughs\, reflecting his love for New York City and the deep emotional resonance he finds in the collaboration between the sun\, the city\, and the artist. \n“I can’t imagine living anywhere else but New York City. It’s the best place for me. I can walk out of my apartment\, go around the block and see the sun hitting a building in a way that results in a picture that I’ve never taken before\,” Krasner says.

SUMMARY:Bob Krasner: The Shape of Things | Artist Talk with Savannah Spirit
DESCRIPTION:Howl! Arts/Howl! Archive invites you to experience the work of Bob Krasner and learn more about his artistic process through dialogue with fellow New York-based photographer and critic\, Savannah Spirit. A multi-talented photographer whose work has appeared in the New York Times\, Vanity Fair\, Rolling Stone\, and the Village Voice\, among other publications\, Krasner’s current exhibition of abstract city views explore the intersection of the architecture and atmosphere of New York City. \nThe talk will be followed by a Q & A and a walk through of the exhibition. \n \nBob Krasner has been a professional photographer for over 25 years.  He has survived photo sessions with heavy metal hair bands\, reluctant politicians\, nervous brides and camera shy children (and adults). His pictures have been published by Rolling Stone\, People\, Vanity Fair\, Town & Country\, Penguin Books\, Random House and The Villager\, for whom he also writes. The New York Press Association has awarded him first prize for best art photograph for the last three years. He can frequently be found\, camera in hand\, on the streets of New York City (where he lives)\, looking for the next great shot. \n
